Giving up 100 things in 100 days
William has raised close to $10,000 for Cancer Council Victoria over the past three and a half years after losing both his father and grandfather from cancer either side of his 14th birthday.
"I have been lucky enough to have so many opportunities and privileges in my young life so in 2011 I decided that I should do something charitable to give back."
From giving up talking, his clothes, and his bed - you name it, he has given it up to raise much needed funds for cancer research, prevention programs and support services. "It started as something small, at first, but quickly ballooned into the crazy, ongoing fundraising efforts that I'm part of today."
After completing his challenge of giving up 100 things in 100 days, William has now set himself a new goal of giving up one thing a day for every $10 donation!
He has also established a Research Award in his father's honour and funding is being directed towards a cause close to his heart. "When I found out that I had raised enough money to name a Research Award, I was overwhelmed. I never imagined I would have this level of success and to be able to honour my father with the Nigel Huggett Research Award - it ranks among my greatest and proudest achievements."
William Huggett has taken quitting to a new level.
